    Description

    1933 Atlantic County, NJ $1 Depression Scrip – November 1, 1933 Issue (Brown/Black Print)

    Serial Numbers: XD551834 – XD551837 (4 consecutive notes)

Scarce group of Four (4) consecutive serial-numbered $1 Depression Scrip notes, issued by Atlantic County, New Jersey on November 1, 1933.
This is the brown/black print variety, a later issue distinct from the more common green April-1933 notes, and far harder to find—especially in consecutive runs.

These pieces were part of the county’s emergency currency program created during the Great Depression to address local cash shortages. Notes like these circulated locally with merchants, banks, and taxpayers during the 1933 banking crisis.
