Offered is a lot of 2 original German Notgeld (emergency money) notes from the town of Lübbecke in Westphalia, dated July 1921. These notes belong to the attractive “Westfalenlied” series and feature bright colors, town arms and historic scenes.

1) 25 Pfennig – Gutschein der Stadt Lübbecke i/W. (Vers 1)

Front: Large red-and-gold city coat of arms with crossed keys, oak wreath border, “Gutschein der Stadt Lübbecke i/W.” and “Westfalenlied – Vers 1”.

Dated Juli 1921, with serial number and signature of the Magistrat.

Back: Colorful rural scene with half-timbered farmhouse and grain fields, framed by tall wheat stalks and verses from the “Westfalenlied” at top and bottom.
2) 2 Mark – Lübbecke Westfalenlied

Front: Text panels and coat of arms design in similar style to the 25 Pf.

Back: Dramatic image of medieval battle / crusader scene, with banners and mounted warriors, surrounded by verses of the “Westfalenlied” and small shields with the denomination 2 in the corners.
