1920 Germany Naumburg Notgeld – 50 Pfennig Set of 3 Notes, Matching Coat of Arms / Silhouette Scenes

Product form

$45.00

    Description

Offered is a lot of 3 original German Notgeld (emergency money) notes from the city of Naumburg (Saale), all 50 Pfennig, issued in 1920 just after World War I. These belong to the same beautifully designed series: all three share an ornate front design and each has a different silhouette scene on the reverse.

You will receive the exact three notes shown in the photos:

Common Front Design (all 3 notes)

    • Text: “Notgeld der Stadt Naumburg (Saale)” and “Ausgegeben 1920”

    • Central roundel with Naumburg coat of arms / sword and key motif

    • Rich floral and geometric border with “50” in decorative hexagons at top and bottom

    • Denomination: 50 Pfennig

    • Serial number and facsimile signatures along the left side

    Reverse Designs

    1. Peasants & Pitchforks Scene

      • Dramatic black silhouette of townspeople advancing with farm tools and weapons

      • Vertical panels of spears at left and right, red “50” in the corners

      • Gothic text along the bottom margin.

    2. Mounted Horsemen / Pursuit Scene

      • Silhouette riders on horseback with lances, galloping across the landscape

      • Matching spear borders and red “50” in corners

      • Text strip along the side describing the scene.

    3. Second Peasants Scene Variant

      • Another striking silhouette group with similar spear borders and layout

      • Red “50” denomination in opposite corners

      • Captioned with an additional line of text from the same story.

These three make up a nice mini-set of all 50 Pfennig designs from this Naumburg issue.

    Condition

    • All notes are stored in protective plastic sleeves (included).

    • Paper shows light age toning and minor corner/edge wear consistent with age.

    • No major tears or heavy folds visible; colors and black silhouettes are crisp with strong contrast.

    • Please look carefully at the photos—they show the exact notes you will receive and form part of the description.
